Brought to you by the West of England Design Forum, Ride+Design is a day of exploring the close relationship between bikes and design, covering everything from branding and fashion to modern cycle culture.
With talks from design-led industry greats including James Fairbank of Rapha, Will Butler-Adams (Brompton), Nick Larsen (Charge Bikes), Dom Thomas (Genesis), Ben Spurrier (Condor Cycles), James Greig (Vulpine), Anna Glowinski (AnaNichoola), as well as films, activities and much more, it's an unmissable day for any bike or design enthusiast.
James Fairbank – Rapha
James Fairbank is the head of Brand and Central Marketing at Rapha. Founded in 2004, Rapha creates the finest cycling clothing and accessories in the world and Rapha.cc is an online emporium of performance roadwear and content that all celebrates the glory and suffering of road riding.
Prior to joining Rapha James was the Head of Marketing and Retail Operations at Carhartt U.K., he is a passionate and committed road cyclist.
Will Butler-Adams – Brompton
Will is the Brompton managing director and our afternoon keynote speaker.
Brompton has been working towards perfecting its folding bike for over 25 years and continues to do so with the full efforts of all its staff.
Will talks us through the story of this British design icon.
In addition to our two keynotes we have two multi-speaker segments with differing themes running through them.
Bike & Design Culture will cover topics that analyse the more zeitgeist aspects of today's cycling and design relationship. Talks by Ben Spurrier (Condor Cycles), Andrew Denham (The Bicycle Academy), and Chris Verbick (Artcrank). Panel discussion on "The Creative Commute".
Design for Bicycles will cover issues relating more directly to the design of bicycles and apparel. Talks by Dom Thomas (Bike Designer), James Greig (Vulpine) and Anna Glowinski (AnaNichoola). Live interview with Nick Larsen (Charge Bikes).
